Best Electric Razor for First Time Girl Shavers

Best Electric Razor for First Time Girl Shavers

For the inexperienced, shaving in any capacity can be scary. I once tried to shave the hairs in between my eyebrows with a razor. I ended up taking off half of my other eyebrow. It can be embarrassing, scary and even painful if you shave incorrectly. There are so many different ways of shaving; there isn’t one correct way. Most girls are fine using a cartridge shaver in the shower, while others like using men’s razors as they typically have more blades. I’ve even heard of some people using straight or safety razors to do the job. Today we are going to be talking about electric shavers. And although shaving might be intimidating, we are at least going to help make it less painful.

Not only are we going to explain how to make it less painful, we will explain general shaving tips, how there are different types of electric shavers and what top features you should be looking for. Electric shavers nowadays have tons of features which may not apply to you, so forget them and focus on the important ones. Let the shaving begin!

Foil or Rotary Shavers?

We highly recommend foil shavers! It’s as simple as that. Let’s dive into this a little bit. Foil Shavers have straight and rectangular heads with oscillating blades while rotary shavers feature 3 circular heads that rotate. The type of electric shaver you get will depend on what area you want to shave.

For most areas, foil shavers will do the trick. Foil shavers work best going either horizontally or vertically on hair that typically grows in the same direction. This would be great for arms, legs and face. Armpits are the only area where a rotary might be useful as it contours to the curves. If you have very thick, coarse hair growing in various directions then using a rotary shaver in a circular motion should do the trick. We do recommend trying out the foil shaver on the armpit area as many people do not experience any discomfort. Foil shavers tend to get a closer shave too.

Shaving Tips

I have several shaving tips that will increase the effectiveness of your shave.

  • Use hot water on the area you are about to shave. If you shave after showering, be sure to use hot water. If you need to shave without showering, use hot water on a towel and press it on your shave area. What this will do is loosen the skin and hair which will make it easier to shave. This is really important!
  • Exfoliate your skin before shaving. This will get rid of the dead skin cells that might get in the way of the shave. If you don’t have an exfoliate soap, even using a hot hand towel to scrub your legs is a good method.
  • If you are using a foil shaver, go vertically or horizontally and not in circular motions. And reverse for rotary shavers, go in circular motions and not in vertical or horizontal motions.
  • Moisturize after shaving will help a lot with razor burn, or sensitive skin.
  • Clean your blades after use. This will ensure your razors are sharp and not dull. Dull blades are actually more likely to cut you in sharp blades.

Features to Look for

Wet/Dry Shaver

As the name implies, dry shavers should not be used with any water or liquid where wet shavers can. We always recommend wet shavers. It is a lot more convenient to shave while showering and the cleanup is a lot simpler. The water from the shower will wash away loose, shaved hair. If you stick with a dry shaver, you will have to dismantle the razor to clean the blades. This is a big no-no.

Cord or Cordless

Cordless all the way! We live in modern times now where electric razors have decent battery life to survive several shaves. Charging it is as simple as charging your toothbrush. Don’t mess with cords in the bathroom as it will restrict your movement and is more prone to accidents. All of our recommendations will be wireless and all of our recommendations will have good battery life.

One thing I want to mention that is directly correlated with cordless razors is noise level. Usually cordless shavers have a slightly louder motor which could play a part in your decision. For me, my bathroom holds sound pretty well and I don’t have to worry about disturbing others in the house.

Design

Design is a little bit more subjective depending on the person’s body type. All of recommendations will feature electric shavers that will fit easily in most girl’s hands and will have the ability to tilt to help the shave angle. Having rubber grips embedded in the shaver’s handle offers a nice touch especially in wet scenarios.

ISTON Rechargeable Wet and Dry

The ISTON foil shaver is our top pick for electric shavers for girls. Its simple design can be utilized by the experienced or inexperienced. As far as features, it checks off everything that we’re looking for. It has sharp stainless steel blades meaning it will never rust. It can be used in wet or dry conditions. And the battery life lasts for 70 minutes. You can use this razor for about two weeks without having to charge it. It also comes with a battery LED to keep you informed.

Sometimes I get excited about accessories. This shaver comes with a lot of extras to be able to shave anywhere safely. It also comes with tweezers and scissors, great for using this a travel shaver.

Brori Electric Razor

Next up is the Brori Electric Razor. What we like about this razor is its simplicity. It doesn’t have a lot of the bells and whistles, but it does shave perfectly. The shaver is really light weight, easy to manipulate and doesn’t make a lot of noise when operated. It can be used in wet/dry conditions and provides up to 60 minutes of shaving.

The shaving head does pivot slightly to allow to match the contours of your skin. It also has a LED light that will illuminate hair that is hidden. It’s a nice touch to make sure you are catching all hair or if you need to shave in the dark!

Panasonic Electric Shaver

The Panasonic Electric Shaver is our budget pick. The most important thing this electric shaver does is cut hair well at a good price point. It doesn’t come with a lot of accessories, but that’s okay. It is one of the most reviewed and popular products on the market today. The biggest drawback is the battery life as it only lasts 20 minutes. If you are the type of person that will remember to throw the razor back onto the charger when finished, then this factor is a non-issue.

Conclusion

If you are a first time shaver, I hope this article has calmed your nerves. Electric shavers are actually easier to use than razors. Choose the best electric razor for you and follow the general shaving tips I gave. Try the razor on a small area first to get the hang of things. It will take a few days for you to be completely comfortable shaving and afterwards, you’ll be shaving at super speed.
